Judges
Renowned poet Sarwar Alam Raz (Texas, USA) is the judge of our Poetry Competition.

How the submissions are graded
Submissions are graded by our judges based on the following qualities:
- Technical excellence
- Rhyme/meter/suitability
- Form and flow
- Choice of words and readability
- Message/interest/overall impact

General Rules
All poets must adhere to the following general rules:
- Submissions must be the original work of the person submitting it to the competition
- Participants must submit their poetry typed in Roman Urdu. At the moment we are not
accepting submissions as image files or in Urdu fonts.
- Submissions must comprise of at least five (5) but not more than ten (10) ash'aar
- Your poetry must be submitted by the given deadline
- You must register with Mehfil-e-Mushaira before submitting your poetry. It's a free, one time process.
- Participants are allowed to submit only one piece of poetry for each competition.
- Once we receive your poetry, no changes or alterations will be allowed. So please make sure
that you are fully satisfied with it before submitting.
- Participants are not allowed to enter their name or any other personally
identifiable information with their poetry. To be completely unbiased, our judges
do not want to see any names with your submission. Our system assigns a unique ID
(roll number) to each submission for tracking before the judges view it.
Terms and Conditions
- The decision of Mehfil-e-Mushaira and the judges will be final
- No one poet will be awarded the first prize for more than two consecutive months. This is to
give more poets a chance to participate and win. In case of same poet getting highest points
in three consecutive rounds, the runner-up of that round will be awarded the prize.
however, there is no restriction on poets to participate each month.
- Use of foul, obscene, racist or othrwise objectionable language will automatically disqualify the submission.
- Mehfil-e-Mushaira reserves the right to accept or reject any submission
- Your submission will remain your property. However, by submitting it to Mehfil-e-Mushaira, you give
Mehfil-e-Mushaira full permission to publish it on its site.
- Selected submissions (that are considered worthy of publishing by Mehfil-e-Mushaira and
the judges) will be posted on our site.
- It is each participant's responsibility to keep his/her address and other
information up-to-date with us. In case of loss of prize in the mail due to wrong address,
Mefil-e-Mushaira will not be responsible.
- Winners will be announced on our web site.
- In case of a tie for the winner, Mehfil-e-Mushaira will use its descretion to decide
the winner either by randomly picking a name from the names of participants with
the highest points or by awarding prizes to all participants with the highest points.

provided to them.
